Columbia County Historical Society
Preserving 300+ years of Columbia County heritage
The Columbia County Historical Society is headquartered in Kinderhook and operates several historic sites throughout the region. Their museum and research library hold extensive collections covering Columbia County and New York State history, including maps, archives, genealogy resources, architectural records, decorative arts, manuscripts, and photographs.
The CCHS also manages the Luykas Van Alen House, the Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse, the James Vanderpoel House, and the Dutch Farming Heritage Trail — all key landmarks that tell the story of this region from its earliest Dutch Colonial days through the present.
