The Village of Kinderhook itself is a destination. Settled by Dutch colonists in the 17th century, the village’s historic district features beautifully preserved architecture spanning several centuries, from Dutch Colonial stone houses to Federal and Victorian-era buildings.
Broad Street, the village’s main thoroughfare, is home to antique shops, art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants — all within walking distance of the Village Green where the Kinderhook Farmers Market sets up each Saturday. The name “Kinderhook” comes from the Dutch “Kinderhoek,” meaning “children’s corner.”
The village is compact and walkable, making it easy to combine a morning at the farmers’ market with an afternoon exploring shops, visiting historic sites, and enjoying a meal at one of the local restaurants.
